Great Home Refurbishment Tips to Improve the Look and Value of Your Property

Redecorating and RenovationSummer’s here! And there’s no better time to make the necessary repairs or renovations for your home than the summer season. It’s when you take advantage of the great weather to make the needed fixes and upgrades in your home. Doing so not only beautifies and improves the look and feel of your home, but it also adds dollar value to it.

So what are some great but affordable ways to upgrade the look and price of your home?

Improve your home’s curb appeal

Now you may be wondering what curb appeal is – it’s a term used by real-estate professionals. Curb appeal is that look and vibe you get off of a home when you view it from the curb when driving. Yes, it does sound weird but real estate professionals and serious buyers know what this is and what it can actually do to a house’s marketability. Improving the curb appeal can be done by numerous ways. It can be one or a combination of different things like planting more greens in the lawn, repainting the fences, getting rid of visible clutter like debris or trash, and more. The idea is to create that great first impression.

Renovate the bathroom

If you put a great deal of importance on bathrooms, then you’re not alone. Oftentimes, a homeowner’s cleanliness can be gauged by how clean (or dirty) the bathroom is. Even if you have the grandest living room with the most mesmerizing pieces, but your bathroom stinks, then it’s social suicide. You clean yourself in the bathroom, so it must be clean and appealing at all times. Renovating your bathroom not only gives you this relaxing feeling, it can also add more dollars to your home value.

Have that flooring done

While marble or cement floors can give you that sense of grandiosity, laminate or hardwood floors can be more appealing for many reasons, including that they look more attractive and cozier. They’re less intimidating and more inviting. More and more homebuyers consider houses with hardwood floors as a great investment however some argue that they’re more prone to water damage and scratching and would rather have laminate flooring. If you need laminate flooring for your house, then you may be interested to know that there are businesses out there that specialize on carpets, rugs, and floorings without the steep prices and complicated processes. Just do your research and you could save hundreds of dollars.

Renovate the kitchen

Sundays at home are all about cooking and sharing meals with the whole family. If you love to cook and eat, it’s only right that you renovate your kitchen. You don’t need to spend or do a lot. If there are budget constraints, focus on just one or a combination of different tips. One thing you could do is to have that flooring done. You can change the old dirty flooring for new and shiny ceramic tiles. Go for the glazed tiles that are stain and water resistant since a lot of spills are expected when you’re in the kitchen, especially when there are kids around. Upgrade to ceramic tiles and when you decide to sell your house, your lucky buyer will be thanking you.

Go for space

If your family’s growing, it may be a good idea to build more space. You can add a room or an office, have an extension created, rebuild the garage, or just have a wall knocked down. The idea is to create more space and room for the family. Building more space not only removes clutter but also increases the value of your home.

Last but not least, fix the leaks

Leaks are simply taboo, especially when you’re trying to build a family or sell the house. Leaks can cause mold and mildew, which not only damage your house but also affect the health of your family. Mold can cause respiratory problems, especially for babies and elderly folks, so better have those leaks fixed while the season still permits. Fix it so you won’t regret it later.

Upgrading the look of your home doesn’t need to carry a hefty price-tag. Just think of something that would totally enhance not just your home, but your life as well. Do this and you’re also sure to increase your home’s value as well.
